Craft lovers will enjoy the Digue market, known for precious-wood carvings, embroidery and Malagasy semi-precious stones.
Traffic can be heavy at rush hour, so plan extra time for getting around. The historic districts are best explored on foot — as in any large capital, keep an eye on your belongings.
